
Pirates Visit Creighton for Final BIG EAST Road Match

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – In another consequential BIG EAST matchup, Seton Hall men's soccer (7-2-6, 3-0-3 BIG EAST) will look continue its undefeated run in BIG EAST play when they travel to Omaha, Neb. to take on the Creighton Blue Jays (8-3-3, 4-1-1 BIG EAST) at Morrison Stadium in the Pirates' final BIG EAST road match of the season.
Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
- Last Saturday, the Pirates travelled to Queens, N.Y., to take on the St. John's Red Storm at Belson Stadium in a match with massive postseason implications.
- While the Red Storm had the early momentum, it was the Pirates who struck first with a Mikkel Lejbowicz goal, off an Agustin Resch header and Axel Berglund free kick, to put the Pirates up 1-0 in the 32nd minute.

- For the rest of the match, the Seton Hall defense quashed any offensive hope for the Red Storm, allowing only one of the team's 11 shots to land on target, as the Pirates collected three massive points in a race for a BIG EAST Tournament spot.
SCOUTING CREIGHTON
- Creighton is 8-3-3 on the season, with a 4-1-1 record in BIG EAST play after defeating Butler 3-1 on Saturday.
- The Blue Jays currently sit in first place in the Midwest Division on 13 points, logging wins over Marquette (1-0), DePaul (2-0), Xavier (2-0), and Butler (3-1).
	- Their lone draw came in a road game against Villanova, which ended 1-1.
 
- This season for the Blue Jays has showcased a focused on younger players. In TopDrawerSoccer.com's Midseason Top 100 Freshman rankings, a trio of Blue Jays were ranked: GK Matthew Hudson (#28), D Brian Edelman (#39) and M Lucas Cavalcante (#46).
- Despite losing three All-BIG EAST selections from last year, two due to graduation and one to the MLS Draft, the Blue Jays' offense has continued humming off the back of continued stellar play from junior midfielder Miguel Arilla. Arilla is among the top offensive players in the entire conference with his team-leading tallies of 16 points, from six goals and four assists, and 33 shots.
- The other key cog to their offense, however, has been defender Matthew Reed. From the backline, the junior has ten points, three goals and four assists. 
	- Both Arilla and Reed, however, have played less than 900 minutes this season.
 
- In net for the Blue Jays has been standout redshirt freshman keeper Matthew Hudson. Through 14 games, Hudson owns a 1.00 GAA, 44 saves and a .759 save percentage, alongside an 8-3-3 record. His most notable start of the season came in a 2-0 win over Denver on Sept. 5, where he held a clean sheet and logged five saves.
	- So far in his freshman campaign, he has collected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors three times.
 
SERIES HISTORY
- This will be the 12th all-time matchup between Seton Hall and Creighton.
- The Pirates hold a 4-6-1 record against Creighton with a 0-4-0 record against the Blue Jays.
- These two teams last met in 2023 when the Pirates took home a 2-1 win at Owen T. Carroll Field.
