PIRATES FALL AT NO. 12 GEORGETOWN
The Pirates battled No. 12 Georgetown for 90 tough minutes, but the Hoyas' attack secured a 50th minute goal and snuck in a meaningless tally in the 90th minute as the Pirates fell 2-0 last Friday at Shaw Field, snapping a four-match winning streak.
Â
After a scoreless first half, Georgetown, which had the majority of chances on the day, was able to convert in the 50th minute. Â Pirates goalkeeper Andreas Nota (Rome, Italy) made a great stop on a shot by Jack Beer, but the rebound came right to Georgetown's Achara, who put the ball in the net for the score.
Â
Seton Hall then played the final 30 minutes of the match with only 10 men due to a red card.
SCOUTING BUTLER
Seton Hall and Butler will meet for only the seventh time in history on Saturday. The Bulldogs are 4-1-1 all-time against Seton Hall. Last year, the The Hall picked up hits first win in the series, edging Butler, 2-1, in Indianapolis. CJ Tibbling (Järna, Sweden) and Carlton McKenzie (Birmingham, England) both found the back of the net for the Pirates in the victory, scoring twice within a five-minute span early in the second half to erase an early deficit.
Â
The Bulldogs enter Friday's contest with a 6-4-1 overall record and a 1-2-1 mark in BIG EAST play. They are 1-2 on the road so far this season. Butler is currently riding a three-match unbeaten streak, having not lost since Sept. 28. Most recently, they played DePaul to a 2-2 tie on Saturday. Their lone BIG EAST victory came on Oct. 4, a 3-1 win at Providence.Â
Â
Entering the season, Butler was picked to finish sixth in the 10-team BIG EAST Preseason Poll. Senior Jared Timmer was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team.
