PIRATES FALL AT NO. 12 GEORGETOWN
The Pirates battled No. 12 Georgetown for 90 tough minutes, but the Hoyas' attack secured a 50th minute goal and snuck in a meaningless tally in the 90th minute as the Pirates fell 2-0 Friday at Shaw Field, snapping a four-match winning streak.
Â
After a scoreless first half, Georgetown, which had the majority of chances on the day, was able to convert in the 50th minute. Â Pirates goalkeeper Andreas Nota (Rome, Italy) made a great stop on a shot by Jack Beer, but the rebound came right to Georgetown's Achara, who put the ball in the net for the score.
Â
Seton Hall then played the final 30 minutes of the match with only 10 men due to a red card.
SCOUTING HOFSTRA
Seton Hall is 1-2-1 all-time against Hofstra. Last year, the teams played for the first time since 2004, resulting in a scoreless tie at Owen T. Carroll Field. Nota made five saves for his first career shutout.
Â
The Pride enter Wednesday's contest with a 5-6-1 overall record. They are coming off a 1-1 tie at Drexel on Saturday. Hofstra's last win came on Oct. 1, a 2-1 victory over LIU in Hempstead. The Pride are 2-2-1 so far in Colonial Athletic Association play. They were picked to finish third in the nine-team 2019 CAA Men's Soccer Preseason Poll. Junior Matthew Vowinkel was named to the Preseason All-CAA Team.
