9/22/2015 12:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Andres Arcila (Cartagena, Colombia) scored his first career goal for the Seton Hall men's soccer team in a 4-1 setback at Monmouth on Tuesday night. The Pirates drop to 0-5-1 on the year with the result, while the Hawks improve to 4-3-1.
After Monmouth took a 2-0 lead in the first half, Arcila took a feed from John Philbin (Emmaus, Pa.) deep in the penalty area and finished in the 39th minute to cut the Hawk lead in half. Monmouth responded in the second frame with a goal at the one-hour mark and another five minutes later to expand their lead to three and effectively seal the contest.
The setback for the Pirates came despite a 17-7 advantage in shots, including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. Monmouth keeper Eric Klenofsky was sharp with six saves and Colin Stripling scored twice to pace the Hawk attack.
Turning Point
After an even start to the second frame with the Pirates looking for an equalizer, the Hawks won a free kick that led to a Dan Pizzimenti goal in the 60th minute which expanded Monmouth's lead to 3-1 and slowed The Hall's charge.
