Bartok and Geiler Tally In Setback At Princeton
10/6/2015 12:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's soccer team (0-8-1) erased a pair of first-half deficits but couldn't find a third equalizer in a 3-2 setback at Princeton (4-3-1) on Tuesday night. The contest marked the conclusion of The Hall's regular season non-conference slate.
After a Princeton goal in the fourth minute, Seton Hall pulled even with Samuel Geiler (Offenburg, Germany) connecting on his team-high third goal of the year in the 29th. The Tigers went ahead again 10 minutes later, but in the final 90 seconds of the opening stanza Danny Bartok (2) scored his second goal in three matches to send the contest to halftime all tied up.
A touch over 10 minutes in the second half, Princeton went ahead for good with a goal from Thomas Sanner, his Ivy League-leading sixth of the year. Junior Brandon Barnes (Cary, Ill.) kept The Hall within a goal throughout the final frame with a career-high seven saves but the Pirates could not push another across.
Turning Point
After a quiet start to the second half, Josh Miller picked up space in the Seton Hall box for a perfect cross to the head of Sanner that was headed home to put Princeton ahead 3-2. Sanner's goal stood as the game-winner.
