Pirates Battle Wagner to 0-0 Draw to Stay Unbeaten

South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's soccer team remained unbeaten on Thursday night, playing Wagner to a 0-0 draw at Owen T. Carroll Field. The Pirate attack tallied 18 shots and put seven of them on target but were unable to break through against a strong Seahawk defense.
How it Happened
The first half saw both sides play even on the attack, with the Pirates holding a slim 8-6 advantage in shots at halftime. However, it wasn't until late in the first 45 minutes that Seton Hall found its attacking legs consistently. The Pirates were able to generate three straight solid looks at goal inside the final five minutes of the half, with shots from Lydia Proia and Nicole Proia being stopped by Wagner goalkeeper Abigail Marcello.
The pitch continued to tilt the Pirates' way in the second half, but the Seahawks were up to each challenge. Seton Hall generated 10 shots in the second half, including a long distance try from Danni Hennessy glanced off the middle of the crossbar in the 57th minute. The most threatening chance for Wagner came late in the 87th minute, when a counter-attack led to a point blank shot that was snuffed out by Kate Kleinsmith.
Gianna Angelillo led the Pirates with seven total shots and put two of them on frame. Hennessy and Kileigh Gorman each also had a pair of shots on the night, while Nicole Proia put two of her three total shots on target. Kleinsmith made a pair of saves on the night as the Pirates have conceded just one goal through five matches this season.
