Box Score

South Orange, N.J. – Seton Hall women's soccer suffered just its second defeat of the season, falling 2-0 to Villanova on Wednesday night at Owen T. Carroll Field.

How it Happened
While Villanova would be the one to win the shots battle, 17-7, it was Seton Hall who generated the first threat of the night. In the ninth minute, Gianna Angelillo carved out space for herself outside the penalty area. She fired a shot with her right foot, beating goalkeeper Hannah Dickinson but glancing the ball off the left post.

From there, the Wildcats would find their offensive footing. Kate Kleinsmith made her first stop of the night in the 16^th minute off a shot from Avrie Nelsen. A few minutes later, a shot from Villanova's Dez Zapata created a flurry of chances. Zapata's shot hit the crossbar, deflecting to a teammate whose shot was cleared off the line by Gabriela Berrios. After the clearance, a third shot of the sequence was sent over the bar, keeping the match scoreless.

Late in the half, the Wildcats would finally strike on a goal from Morgan Kotch in the 39^th minute. After halftime, Kotch would notch her second goal of the night on an impressive turnaround shot into the short-side corner of the goal.
