Washington, D.C. – Brianna Azevedo buried what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 75th minute as the Seton Hall women's soccer team defeated Georgetown, 1-0, for their first win over the Hoyas since 2011.
The Pirates were able to bounce back after a delay of over an hour in the second half due to a power outage on Georgetown's campus. The Hall was able to grab the win despite being outshot by the Hoyas on the night, 13-5.
How it Happened
Georgetown was on the offensive forefront in the first half, tallying seven total shots to none for Seton Hall. Despite that, Pirate goalkeeper Kate Kleinsmith did as she's done all season long, making five first half saves to keep things scoreless at halftime.
In the 62nd minute, the match was brought to a halt after a power outage caused the lights at Shaw Field to go out. After over an hour delay, the match resumed and the Pirates looked revitalized.
Looks at goal materialized for Kaylin Mallon and Kileigh Gorman in the minutes following the resumption of play as Seton Hall looked to build attacking momentum. Those efforts paid off in the 75th minute, as Gianna Angelillo fed a pass to Azevedo who buried one in the bottom left corner of the goal.
