
Pirates Set to Open Home Slate With Clash Against Scarlet Knights

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The 2025 Seton Hall softball team opens their home schedule this season on Tuesday, March 4, when Rutgers travels to Essex County Mike Sheppard Sr. Field to take on the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. This matchup is the first half of a home-and-home to be played by the two teams this season.
Week Four Recap: Pirates Close Tournament Play in Charlottesville
The Pirates continued their season last weekend at the Party at Palmer Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. The Pirates returned north with a 2-3 record on the weekend, with both wins coming over Cornell. Olivia Gilbert mashed 10 RBI to reach a career mark of 100 RBI, while Taylor Hill moved to second in program history in runs scores. One of the Cornell victories, a 4-3 victory, was headlined by a three-run, walk-off home run by Kelsey Carr.

- Their pitching staff is led by freshman and 2024 Gatorade Player of the Year finalist Ella Harrison. Harrison has 12 starts with 72.2 innings pitched and a 5-7 record so far this season. Her 90 total strikeouts ranks her top ten in the countries.

- With three runs this weekend, Taylor Hill moved into sole possession of the second-most career runs in program history with 133 runs scored.
- Olivia Gilbert earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on March 3. The senior first baseman hit .294/.368/.657 with four runs, two home runs and 10 RBI in 5 games at the Party at Palmer Invitational.
- Gilbert is tied for third in the BIG EAST in RBI this season with 17 total RBI.
- Carr also recorded her 100th career RBI this past weekend against Cornell.
- Kelsey Carr and Katey Brennan are tied for the conference-lead in walks with 15 each.
- After hitting .563 at the Party at Palmer Invitational, Caroline Hobbes raised her batting average to .316.
