How It Happened (Game One)
- Despite both teams scattering hits and walks, the opening two innings of this local clash fell flat for both sides, leading to a 0-0 scoreline.
- FDU broke the draw in the third inning when a two-out double drove home a runner to make it a 1-0 FDU lead.
- However, The Hall quickly found its response in the bottom of the inning. Katey Brennan and Sophia DeMarco both got on base before, with two outs, Lea Kosinski stepped to the plate. Staring down the barrel of a 0-2 count, Kosinski laced a ball through the left side of the infield to drive home a pair of runners to take a 2-1 lead.
- The Knights evened up the score once again in the fourth inning, but Andrea Perez responded in the fifth, driving her 150th career hit into left centerfield for an RBI double to take a 3-2 lead.
- On the precipice of winning, the Pirates needed just three more outs to end the game. However, after collecting two outs in the first three batters, The Hall struggled to find the strike zone. A wild pitch allowed FDU to tie the game at 3-3, but Rachael Schumann returned to the game to get the final out of the inning before any more damage could be done.
- Seeking to avoid extra innings, the heart of Seton Hall's order came to the plate with a chance to win the game. After the opening two players couldn't get on base, Kosinski returned to the plate with two outs. After watching one ball go by her, the graduate student demolished the 1-0 pitch over the right field wall to give the Pirates a 4-3 walk-off win.
- After collecting a euphoric win in game one, the Pirates launched into action in game two. After a nearly perfect opening inning in the field, the Pirates returned to the plate with a win on the mind.
- What occurred during the bottom half first inning was a clinic in plate discipline by The Hall. By the end of the frame, 15 batters came to the plate, seven walks occurred and Seton Hall exited the inning with a 9-0 lead.
- Aided by the large lead, Sami Wakeley cruised through three innings of work to the first scoreless start of her career. After her final inning in the circle, in the bottom of the third, a wild pitch and RBI single from Perez made it an 11-0 game in favor of Seton Hall.
- Kyra Kreuscher entered the game in the fourth, looking to close out the doubleheader sweep for The Hall. After eight batters and four strikeouts, Kreuscher secured the 11-0 run-rule win over FDU.
- With the pair of wins, the Pirates move to 17-23 on the season and 5-13 in BIG EAST play.
- Today's second win secured The Hall its 1,000th win all time.
- All nine starters in game two recorded an RBI.
- With one hit in each game today, Benitez has set a new school record with her 20 game-hitting streak this season.
- She has now recorded a hit in 36 of 40 games this season
- Benitez also recorded her team-leading 30th run scored.
- With one hit in game one, Brennan recorded her 45th hit of the season.
- Martinez recorded her 25th hit of the season.
