South Orange, N.J. -- Freshman Aiden Robbins (Yardley, Pa.) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and graduate student Kyle Lyons (West Chester, Pa.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored as the Pirates dropped game one of the doubleheader against UMass, 5-2.

Redshirt senior Staus Pokrovsky (Pittsgrove, N.J.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and redshirt senior Jonathan Luders (Lynnfield, Mass.) went 1-for-3 with an RBI in game two as the Pirates lost 11-1.

How It Happened

In game one, the Pirates jumped out to an early two run lead in the bottom of the third inning. Robbins hit an RBI single to open up the scoring and was followed by senior Zack Sylvester (Montville, N.J.) who picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

That would be all for the Pirates offense as UMass had a five run fifth inning to secure the win in game one.

In game two, UMass was first to score by getting three runs across in the top of the first inning. The Pirates scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the second inning on a Luders double to left field.

UMass would then go on to score in three straight innings with a pair in the third, a run in the fourth, and another two in the fifth. They closed out their offensive day by scoring three runs in the seventh to make it an 11-1 game as the Pirates fell to 14-10 on the season.
