Boote's Goal Propels Pirates to Season Opening Win Over Rider

How it Happened
Much like last season's opener at home against Rider, Seton Hall was able to find the back of the net within the first 10 minutes of the match. Andrea Borg (Sliema, Malta) slipped in a cross that found the foot of Mark Walier (Holmdel, N.J.), who fired a shot off the legs of the Broncs' goalkeeper. The rebound bounced out to Boote at the top of the six-yard box, and his right-footed shot found the back of the net to give the Pirates the lead.

The two sides would go back and forth over the remainder of the half, with Seton Hall's midfield and backline play preventing any dangerous Rider opportunities. The best chance of the half for the Broncs came in the 41st minute, when a shot from the edge of the penalty area forced Mats Roorda (Groningen, Netherlands) to dive to his left and make the save.

The second half once again saw Seton Hall thwart any momentum from the opposition. As Rider mounted pressure in the waning moments of the night, the Pirates dropped numbers back to answer the challenge. In the 88th minute off a set piece, a Rider shot from inside the area looked ticketed for the back of the net. However, Boote was placed perfectly at the left post, heading the ball out of danger and preserving the victory for The Hall.
