Seton Hall 1 – Manhattan 0
How it Happened
- Babik started out strong picking up her second and third strikeouts as part of a 1-2-3 second inning.
- After a leadoff triple to start the third, Babik bounced back to retire the next three Japer hitters and keep the game scoreless.
- Shelby Smith (Friendswood, Texas) led off the fourth with a single before being pinch run for by Miranda Arruda (Pawcatuck, Conn.). Arruda would be moved to second before stealing third and coming home to score on a Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) sacrifice fly to make it 1-0.
- Babik would not surrender the lead as she would fire four more scoreless frames enroute to the complete game shutout victory.
- The complete game shutout was the second of Babik's career and the nine strikeouts were also a career mark. With the win, Babik moved to 6-4 on the season.
- Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) picked up her 10th double of the season which leads the Pirates.
- The RBI was Allender's 14th of the season and the 76th of her career.
- The victory was the 200th NCCA win in the career of Head Coach Angie Churchill.
How it Happened
- The Pirates got on the board first with two runs highlighted by a Taylor Hill (Little Falls, N.J.) RBI single to make it 2-0 after one.
- The Hall would add three more in the third. A Smith double followed by a Hill two-run homer to center would double the Pirates' lead to four. A Jenna Blevins (Flat Rock, Mich.) single, then an Allender single and a Marisa Pla (San Clemente, Calif.) RBI single would make it a 5-0 ballgame.
- Manhattan would get two runs back in the sixth, but that would be it as the Pirates would take game two by a score of 5-2.
- Cadyn Ehrenberg (Fremont, Wisc.) picked up the complete game victory scattering one earned run across seven innings with a strikeout. The win moved Ehrenberg to 2-1 on the season.
- Hill picked up her third multi-hit effort in the last five games and now has 19 RBIs on the season.
- Five different Pirates got into the hit column for The Hall with Lauren Caye (Pittsburgh, Pa. ), Smith, Hill, Blevins and Allender all reaching base multiple times.
- With the win, the Pirates improved to 14-13 overall and 6-5 on the road.
