Hill is absolutely scalding right now, finishing the day 3-for-5 at the plate with two extra-base hits and six RBI. She is now hitting .471 in 15 BIG EAST games with three home runs, 11 doubles, 23 RBI and 10 runs scored.
Also having strong offensive performances on Saturday were junior Ashly Colonnetta (Cypress, Texas), who went 4-for-5 and scored three runs, freshman Lauren Caye (Pittsburgh, Pa.), who homered, scored three times and drove in two, junior Shelby Smith (Friendswood, Texas), who had a double and three runs scored, and freshman Jenna Blevins (Flat Rock, Mich.), who had a bases clearing double.
Seton Hall improved to 17-17 overall and 6-9 in BIG EAST play.
How It Happened
Seton Hall trailed 4-2 after three innings, and the fourth inning proved to be a wild sequence for both teams. Caye tied the game up with her one-out, two-run homer to right field. Then Colonnetta singled, and Smith doubled her home to give the Pirates the lead. That brought Hill to the plate, and the left-handed hitter went deep to right for a home run to plate Smith and her and make it a 7-4 lead for The Hall.
Then Georgetown answered right back with a stunning two-out rally. After Smith got the first two out, Georgetown drew a walk, hit back-to-back singles and drew a hit-by-pitch before Alyssa Chavez hit a two-run double to center. The Hoyas reclaimed the lead, 8-7, with four runs all coming with two outs.
Seton Hall then put up its own two-out rally in the fifth. With one on and two outs, Colonnetta singled and then Smith drew a walk to load the bases. Up came Hill, and she hit an opposite field double to left that cleared the bases and put the Pirates up 10-8.
It was 10-9 in the seventh inning when the Pirates loaded the bases again, and this time it was Blevins who emptied the bases with a double to left center that gave the Pirates a 13-9 lead.
