WASHINGTON - Freshman Taylor Hill (Little Falls, N.J.) continued her red hot hitting at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, but the Seton Hall softball team was done in by a rough fifth inning as Georgetown put up six runs to create a 12-4 run-rule win Friday at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy complex.

Hill is now hitting .457 in 14 BIG EAST games, and over the last 11 games, she's hitting .425 with three home runs and 17 RBI.

Also having strong offensive performances on Friday were freshman Olivia Gilbert (Johnston, R.I.), who had a double and two RBI, and junior Shelby Smith (Friendswood, Texas), who tripled and walked.

How It Happened
Seton Hall fell behind 4-0 through two innings, but found the bats in the fourth, loading the bases with just one out. Gilbert launched a double to left field to plate a pair of runs, and senior Marisa Pla (San Clemente, Calif.) hit a sacrifice fly to bring home a third run to make it 4-3.

Georgetown answered with two runs before the Pirates tacked on one more in the top of the fifth. Smith hit her triple down the right field line, and then freshman pinch-runner Amber Johnson (Belfair, Washington) scored when Hill found the gap in left-center for a double.

Seton Hall was down only 6-4 in the bottom of the fifth, but the Hoyas put up a six-spot, walking off on the Pirates after a bases-clearing triple and then an RBI single.

Numbers and Notes

With her 2-for-3 day with a double and run scored, Hill is now hitting .457 with 12 extra-base hits and nine runs scored in 14 conference games. Her OPS is a robust 1.284.
Gilbert went 1-for-2 with a double and is now 5-for-15 over her last five games played.
Smith's triple was her first of the season, and she now has 12 extra-base hits on the season and five in BIG EAST play.
Sophomore Sydney Babik (Gilbert, Ariz.) started in the circle for the Pirates and allowed four earned runs.
Seton Hall now is 20-12 all-time against Georgetown, including 11-9 in road games.
The 12 runs allowed were the most by the Pirates this season.
