The Hall Loses Final-Second Heartbreaker to No. 18 Florida Gulf Coast
9/6/2019 9:39:00 PM | Men's Soccer
Fort Myers, Fla. - The Seton Hall men's soccer team played scoreless ball with No. 18 ranked Florida Gulf Coast for the first 89:44, but with only 15 seconds remaining in regulation, the Eagles connected on a rebound to steal a 1-0 home victory over the Pirates Friday night at the FGCU Soccer Complex.Â
The last-second goal robbed The Hall of a chance to win its first match over a nationally ranked opponent since 2017.
Turning Point
In the match's final seconds, Florida Gulf Coast grabbed possession in its defensive mid zone and then pushed forward. A pass went back to a trailing Miguel Perez who smashed a shot from just past the top of the box towards the net. Junior goalkeeper Andreas Nota (Rome, Italy) sprawled out to his right to make the save, but the rebound landed neatly at Max Edwards, who popped a shot top-center hitting the crossbar and coming down in the goal for the victory.
