The Hall Heads West To Begin Spring Break Swing

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Seton Hall softball team (6-2) begins its 11-game Spring Break trip over the weekend, venturing to the Golden State to participate in the 2017 Louisville Slugger Tournament hosted by Pacific. The Hall will take on East Carolina, Pacific and Portland State for five games in three days from March 3-5 at Bill Simoni Field.

PIRATE POINTS

The Hall is 6-2 on the season, fresh off a strong showing at the ECU Pirate Invitational last weekend
In that tournament, the Pirates defeated a pair of ACC foes in Virginia and Virginia Tech as well as Coppin State
Seton Hall boasts one of the nation's top offenses, ranking top-15 in the country in batting average (.362, 15th), on-base percentage (.473, third), slugging percentage (.586, ninth) and runs per game (8.0, sixth)
Freshman Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) has stormed out of the gates in her rookie season, batting .565 with two home runs, five doubles and 10 RBIs
Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.) is the reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week and is currently hitting .524 on the year, also holding a 3.32 ERA with a 2-1 record and a save in 19.0 innings
Junior Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) is hitting .435 this season and has matched Pandolfo with a pair of home runs and 10 RBIs, while also launching her 30th career long ball on Feb. 26
As a team the Pirates have swiped 10 bags in eight contests, led by a perfect 3-for-3 mark from Brianna Wallace (Fort Worth, Texas)
In addition to Fischer in the circle, freshman Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) holds a 2.10 ERA in 6.2 innings and Chrisa Head (Lewisville, Texas) checks in at 3.50 with a 1-0 record

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION

East Carolina (8-6)
- The (other) Pirates are coming off a 3-1 run at their hosted tournament last weekend
- Tate McClellan leads ECU with a .444 average along with three home runs and 11 RBIs
- Lydia Ritchie is ECU's top arm and holds a 6-3 record with a 2.61 ERA in 51.0 innings this season
Pacific (6-7)
- The Tigers most recently went 3-2 at the Libby Matson Tournament, picking up wins over Seattle and Sacramento State
- A trio of freshman lead the Pacific offense with Caitlyn Sung (.370), Starr Vang (.353) and Hailey Reed (.326) all hitting above .300
- Reed has also been strong in the circle with a 1.17 ERA in 12.0 innings, while Marissa Young is 2-0 with a 1.26 mark in 33.1 frames
Portland State (1-9)
- The s spent last weekend at the Grand Canyon Invitational, going 1-4 with a victory over Rhode Island in their final contest
- Offensively Tayler Gunesch leads PSU with a .333 average
- In the circle Alyssa Burk has made eight appearances and racked up 22 strikeouts in 24.2 innings
