Pirate Offense Explodes In Season-Opening Sweep
2/18/2017 9:50:00 PM | Softball
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Powered by an offense that scored 29 runs over two games, the Seton Hall softball team (2-0) opened its 2017 campaign with a pair of victories on Saturday at the Runnin' Bulldog Tournament hosted by Gardner Webb. The Hall knocked off Hampton in five innings before taking down Bucknell in six.
Freshman Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) was the offensive star of the day, combining to go 7-for-9 with a home run, a triple, four doubles and six RBIs over the two games. Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) also homered in game two, scoring five runs and recording 10 total bases in the two games. In the circle, Reganne Camp (Normal, Ill.) and Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.) both picked up wins with solid efforts. For Fischer, the opening weekend was her first action since a season-ending injury last March.

- Fischer had a big day both at the plate and in the circle, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs while also striking out three in a five-inning complete game

- The Pirates jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but Bucknell battled back and eventually took an 8-7 lead in the fifth
- The Hall wasted no time re-taking the lead, exploding for a seven-run frame in the bottom of the fifth that included a three-run home run from Walkden
- Up 15-8 in the bottom of the sixth, rookie Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) smacked a three-run home run that ended the game by run rule
