Pirate Softball Opens 2017 Campaign This Weekend

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Seton Hall softball team kicks off its 42nd season of play this weekend, traveling to North Carolina to take part in the 2017 Runnin' Bulldog Tournament hosted by Gardner-Webb. The Hall will play three games on Saturday and Sunday at Brinkley Stadium against Hampton, Bucknell and Holy Cross.

The Pirates open the 2017 campaign after finishing 24-30 a season ago, a squad that got off to an 8-2 start for the best opening 10 games since 2004. - Valerie Suto (Mercerville, N.J.) – Senior center fielder was among the BIG EAST leaders with a .364 batting average in 2016 and led the league with 30 stolen bases
- Noel Lent (Yaphanic, N.Y.) – Fellow senior slashed .298/369/.466 and ranked second in the league in doubles with 13 a season ago
- Brianna Wallace (Forth Worth, Texas) – Sophomore scored 19 runs and stole eight bases during her rookie season
- Katherine Wilson (Fairfax, Va.) – Made one appearance as a freshman last year
- Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) – Freshman who was a career .681 hitter in high school
- Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) – Junior who enters the 2017 campaign as a BIG EAST Player of the Year candidate, has slugged 28 home runs and is a .372 career hitter over her first two seasons in South Orange
- Ragen Reddick (Middlesex, N.J.) – Sophomore who was All-Conference last season after hitting .300 in her debut season
- Chelsea Caynon (Litchfield, N.H.) – Senior who has made 48 career appearances, primarily at first base
- Emily Supercynski (Aurora, Colo.) – Talented sophomore who is primed for a breakout campaign
- Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) – Fellow freshman was All-Long Island as a senior in high school
- Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.) – Senior compiled a 4.13 ERA over 11 appearances in the circle before a season-ending injury, also batted .387 with four home runs in 22 games as a hitter
- Chrisa Head (Lewisville, Texas) – Finished her freshman season with a 7-8 record and 3.80 ERA over 108.2 innings, hit .267 with five home runs at the plate
- Madison Strunk (Adkins, Texas) – Tossed 195.2 innings as a freshman, compiling a 4.33 ERA and 122 strikeouts on the year
- Alannah Basile (Levittown, N.Y.) – Junior has made 18 career appearances in the circle, also slugged .448 in 29 at bats last season
- Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) – Freshman who won 70 games in high school and finished her senior season with a 0.71 ERA
- Mo Sobel (Newbury Parks, Calif.) – Fellow rookie that was four-time All-League in high school and posted a 1.62 career ERA
- Destini Peck (Riverside, Calif.) – Sophomore made 20 starts last season and knocked in eight runs while holding a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage
- Katherine Matthys (Spring Branch, Texas) – Rookie was three-time All-District in high school
- Jennifer Sanislo (Whippany, N.Y.) – Senior and defensive specialist made 37 appearances and held a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage last season
- Joelle Arrante (Elkton, Md.) – Senior has played in 17 contests in her career
- Sara Foster (Long Beach, Calif.) – Junior has scored 16 runs over 68 career appearances, including 45 starts
- Alyssa Prukop (Coto De Caza, Calif.) – Fellow junior has eight RBIs and three doubles in 41 career appearances, making 18 starts
