CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Seton Hall men's soccer team concludes its 2015 regular-season road slate on Saturday, Oct. 31 with a Halloween night showdown at Xavier. The Pirates (0-13-1, 0-7-0) and Musketeers (10-4-1, 4-2-1) will square off in a BIG EAST showdown at 7 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FOX Sports GO.
On Wednesday, Seton Hall pushed yet another top-10 team to the brink, battling No. 7 Georgetown into overtime before eventually falling in the nation's capital by a score of 3-2. The Pirates went ahead twice in the final 20 minutes of the match, using a Danny Bartok (Union, N.J.) goal in the 71st minute to take a 1-0 lead and a Julian Kennedy (Nindorf, Germany) strike in the 77th minute to go up 2-1. GU's Brandon Allen found an equalizer on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute, then doubled down with a golden goal winner six minutes into overtime. Despite the setback, The Hall became the first league foe to score against the table-topping Hoyas in seven BIG EAST matches this season.
Bartok leads The Hall with four goals and eight points this season, ranking fifth in the BIG EAST with three goals in league play. Samuel Geiler (Offenburg, Germany) is second on the squad with three goals and seven points, while Andres Arcila (Cartagena, Colombia) paces the Pirates with three assists and also has seven points. Lukas Pangonis (Kaunas, Lithuania) has started all 14 games on defense and has dished out two assists.
The Musketeers host The Hall with a record of 10-4-1 on the year, including a 4-2-1 record in BIG EAST play to place third in the conference standing. XU is coming off a massive win at No. 1 Creighton on Wednesday, becoming the first team this seasont to pick up a result from the Bluejays thanks to an 89th minute goal from Matt Vasquenza. The victory was Xavier's second over a top-two team this season, also taking down No. 2 Notre Dame in South Bend on Sept. 15. Alex Risdale and Vasquenza are tied for the Musketeer lead with 11 points each, both coming via five goals and an assist. Seven different players have netted at least twice for XU in a balanced offensive attack. In goal, Dallas Jaye sees the bulk of action and sports an 8-1-1 record and leads the league with a 0.38 GAA and a .902 save percentage.
Seton Hall and Xavier have met the last two years since XU joined the BIG EAST, with both results going to the Musketeers. Last season the Pirates got a goal from Bolu Akinyode in a 3-1 setback in South Orange.
Up next after Xavier is Senior Day at The Hall on Thursday, Nov. 5 against Villanova. Bartok, Eric Lagg (Lafayette, N.J.), Kennedy and Jeremy Witherspoon (South Orange, N.J.) will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
