LoManto Lands on BIG EAST Honor Roll

NEW YORK - After leading his team to a win in the season finale at St. John's University last week, senior midfielder Andrew LoManto (Massapequa, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in his career it was announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Seton Hall found itself in the thick of the race for the final position in the BIG EAST Tournament, needing a win at St. John's in the regular season finale to keep its hopes alive, and LoManto delivered the game-winner in the 56th minute of a 1-0 game.
Redshirt senior Victor Manosalvas (Clifton, N.J.) began the scoring play, dribbling through the Red Storm defense up the middle of the field before passing it off to Samuel Geiler (Offenburg, Germany) at the top of the 18.
Geiler moved in on net, withstanding contact from a defender, but noticing that he did not have a good angle on Jordan Stagmiller in net, he found LoManto with a pass to his left, allowing him to slide forward and score the goal.
It was the second goal of the season for LoManto and the fourth of his career. He netted the difference maker in both of Seton Hall's conference victories this season, also scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over No. 3 Georgetown back on Oct. 18. In fact, three of his four-career scores counted as game-winners, as he also struck in overtime of a win over Rider in 2012.
Seton Hall finished its season with a 5-7-5 overall record and a 2-4-3 mark in BIG EAST play with nine points, finishing just one point behind Marquette for the final BIG EAST Tournament berth.
The win over St. John's in the regular season finale was the first conference road win for The Hall since beating Syracuse in 2009, the first victory over St. John's since 2006, and the first win at St. John's since 1990.
