How It Happened
Amid a windy day in the City of Brotherly Love, the Pirates found themselves down 1-0 at the end of the first inning after an RBI double.

After going down in order in first frame, the Pirates offense began to find its rhythm in the second inning. After a one-out single by Olivia Gilbert, Taylor Hill laced a pitch narrowly over the centerfield wall, sending The Hall up 2-1. The lead would not last for long, however, as the Dragons piled on four runs through small-ball tactics, sending Seton Hall back down 5-2 as quickly as it went in front.

Yet, despite the adversity, the Pirates fought their way back. In the third inning, with one out, Katey Brennan scored on a double steal to make it a 5-3 game. One batter later, fresh off a strong showing against St. John's, Gilbert demolished a ball over the left field wall to tie the game at 5-5 by the end of the third inning.
In search of stability in the circle, the Pirates turned to Karissa Dupuis in the third inning with hopes of stemming the bleeding when in the field. Dupuis retired her first three batters in order, allowing the momentum to slowly shift into the Pirates' favor. In the top of the fourth, off the back of the scoreless frame, loaded the bases with two outs. After her clutch home run in the third, Gilbert knocked a bases-clearing double to the wall, sending the hall in front 8-5 through 4 innings.

The two sides would trade runs in the fifth inning, with Brennan scoring on an error and the Dragons collecting a solo home run, making it a 9-6 game. The Hall would add another run in the sixth when Hill scored on an error, putting the Pirates into the double digits, 10-6. All the while, aside from the home run and a stray double, Dupuis continued to mow down the Dragons' hitters. Through four innings of work, as the game hit the seventh inning, only two of the fourteen batters she faced reached base.

The Pirates capped off an explosive offensive day with one more home run when Brennan launched a solo shot over the right field wall to put The Hall up 11-6 in the top of the seventh. Despite loading the bases in the bottom of the frame, the Dragons would not score another run on the Pirates. Dupuis retired the final two batters, securing an 11-6 win for Seton Hall.
