
Pirates Prepare for Trio of Matchups in Congested Week

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team (12-10, 5-1 BIG EAST) begins its sixth seventh of the season on with a pair of midweek clashes.
The Pirates will travel to Stony Brook (5-13) for a 2 p.m. game on Tuesday, March 18. The Pirates will return home the following day to take on Rider (6-13) in a doubleheader at Mike Sheppard Sr. Field. First pitches are scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m. They will finally close the weekend in Storrs, Connecticut, with a three-game series against the Huskies.
Week Six Recap: A 3-1 Week Powers Churchill to 100 Wins During SHU Tenure
The Pirates opened week six with a quick trip to Philadelphia for a single game against the Penn Quakers. After jumping out to an early lead, Penn pulled themselves within three in the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, however, they could not drive in an equalizer and Seton Hall won 7-4.

After their mid-week victory, the team traveled to the Windy City to face off against DePaul. The Pirates power-packed offense leapt on the Blue Demons early in the first game. Powered by a six-RBI day from Katey Brennan, the Pirates won the series opener 15-3, in five innings, earning head coach Angie Churchill the 100th win of her Seton Hall tenure.

The two sides split the Saturday doubleheader after two extremely tight games. The Pirates claimed the first game 5-4, while DePaul won the second game 5-3.
