Pirates Head to Philly for Mid-Week Clash Against Penn

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team begins its sixth week of the season on Wednesday, March 12, with a single-game clash against the Penn Quakers at Multipurpose Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Week Five Weekend Recap: Pirates Besiege Georgetown in BIG EAST-Opening Sweep
After claiming a mid-week victory in the home opener over Rutgers, the Pirates returned to Mike Sheppard Sr. Field to open BIG EAST play against Georgetown. Going into the weekend, the Pirates won nine of their last eleven games against the Hoyas. This past weekend was no different for the Pirates.

In the series opener, a pair of home runs by Taylor Hill and Kelsey Carr, in addition to Carr's complete game, earned The Hall a 5-3 victory to start the three-game tilt. The Pirates offense flourished in the second game, collected a 10-2 victory in five innings that was headlined by a three-RBI performance from Olivia Gilbert. The Pirates closed out the weekend with a series sweep after a dominant 14-6 victory in five innings over the Hoyas. In that final win, Hannah Alexander hit two home runs 7 RBI, tying the program record for most RBI in a single game.

Previewing Penn

Seton Hall are 0-1 all-time against Penn all-time.
- The only prior clash between these two schools came on March 11, 2014, when Penn beat the Pirates 6-0 at Mike Sheppard Sr. Field.

Kelsey Carr earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on March 10. The graduate student two-way player hit .636/.714/1.273 with four runs, two home runs and seven RBI in 4 games. She also pitched 12.2 innings, finishing the week with a 2-0 record, one save, eight strikeouts and a 3.55 ERA.
- Carr sits second in the conference in OBP (.515), sixth in RBI (18), first in walks (18) and tied for first in home runs (6).
Heading into the week, Gilbert is fifth in the BIG EAST in RBI this season with 22 total RBI.
Katey Brennan enters tied for sixth in runs scored (19) and sits third in walks (3).
With 7 RBI in the series finale against Georgetown, Hannah Alexander tied the single-game record for most RBI with seven,
