South Orange, N.J. - Aiden Robbins (Yardley, Pa.) went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and Daniel Frontera (Red Bank, N.J.) had six strikeouts in two innings pitched before ultimately leaving due to an injury as the Seton Hall baseball team fell to Villanova, 3-1, in the series opener on Friday evening.

Frontera was two strikeouts shy of matching his career high that he posted in his last start at Georgetown. Robbins now has 10 multi-hit games on the season

How It Happened

Frontera started the game off hot as he recorded the first six outs of the game by strikeout. Jackson Balzan (Medford, N.J.) entered the game in the top of the third with the bases loaded and no one out and Villanova capitalized by drawing a hit by pitch that put the Wildcats in front, 1-0. Balzan prevented further damage by recording two strikeouts and a groundout that ended the inning.

Balzan worked a scoreless top of the fourth and Sylvester reached on a two-out single in the home half but he was caught stealing second that ended the frame. In the bottom of the sixth, Jonathan Luders (Lynnfield, Mass.) led off the inning with a base hit to left field. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Frankie Scravanic (Tinton Falls, N.J.) and with two outs, Robbins drove Luders in on a base hit to right field that knotted up the score at 1-1.

Villanova answered right back in the top of the seventh where an error eventually led the go-ahead run coming across on a single. A solo home run extended the Wildcats' lead to 3-1 in the top of the eighth and despite loading the bases in the home half, The Hall could not muster a run.
