South Orange, N.J. – Six different Pirates got into the hit column as the Seton Hall softball team dropped a close matchup with DePaul 8-7 on Saturday. Olivia Gilbert (Johnston, R.I.) led the way with three hits including two doubles and an RBI at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field. Cadyn Ehrenberg (Fremont, Wisc.) was solid in four innings of relief for the Pirates giving up one unearned run and allowing just two hits.

How it Happened

The Blue Demons got on the board first with a two-run homer in the first to take an early 2-0 lead.
The Pirates would grab a run in the home-half of the second. Sydney Babik (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Hannah Alexander (Wrightstown, N.J.) would lead off the inning with singles before Jenna Blevins (Flat Rock, Mich.) would bring home a run on a sac fly to cut the lead to one.

DePaul would string together five runs in the third on three hits to grow the lead to six.
The Pirates would answer with four runs of their own in their half of the third. The Hall strung three doubles together to start the inning from Taylor Hill (Little Falls, N.J.), Gilbert and Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) with the later two scoring a run each.

Ashly Colonnetta (Cypress, Texas) would knock in another run before stealing second to allow for Amber Johnson (Belfair, Wash.) to cross the plate and make it a 7-5 ballgame.

DePaul would grab a run in the fourth on a Pirate miscue but Hill would answer in a big way in the bottom-half of the inning with a solo shot to right.

The Pirates would cut it to a one-run game in the sixth following a Wingo RBI-single but that would be all as they fell 8-7.

Notes and Numbers

The three hits for Gilbert were a career-best while the doubles and RBI were her respective firsts in a Pirate uniform.
With two more hits today, Hill now has three consecutive games with multiple hits and has 10 multi-hit efforts on the season. The freshman is hitting .432 (16-of-37) with seven doubles and 10 runs driven in through 11 BIG EAST games.
Wingo's double was her team-leading 11^th of the season.
With her four innings of relief today, Ehrenberg has allowed just three earned runs over her last 15.2 innings pitched.
The Pirates outhit the Blue Demons 11-8.
The Pirates moved to 14-15 on the season, 4-7 in the BIG EAST and 5-6 at home.
