MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The Seton Hall softball team split its first two games at THE Spring Games. The Hall came out on top in a back-and-forth affair with South Alabama, 9-7, before falling to FAU 9-3.

GAME ONE
Seton Hall 9 – South Alabama 7
Clutch hitting down the stretch, including a three-run homer from Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) and a two-run triple from Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) secured the win.

How it Happened

The Jaguars broke open the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the first.
The Pirates responded with a Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.) run-scoring single in the home half of the inning.
Jaden Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.) put the Pirates ahead in the fourth with a two-run single.
South Alabama answered the call, putting up four runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead.
With two runners aboard in the fifth, Pandolfo drove a ball over the left field wall for a three-run home run to put the Pirates up 6-5.
The Jags answered yet again with a two-run long ball of their own in the sixth to regain the lead.
Down 0-2 in the count, Allender tripled to score two runs and put the Pirates head for good in the bottom of the sixth.
Coming full-circle, Beaver singled in a run for the second time and give the Pirates an insurance run, 9-7.

Notes and Numbers

Pandolfo's home run was her second of the year, with the first, another three-run shot, coming in the win over San Diego.
Allender's triple was the third of her career and the Pirates' third of the season.
Shelby Smith (Friendswood, Texas) earned the save for the Pirates pitching a scoreless seventh, the first in her career.
Kelsey Gumm (Spokane, Wash.) earned the win to improve her record to 2-2 on the season.
The Pirates made the most of their opportunities, going 9-21 with runners on.

GAME TWO
Florida Atlantic 9 – Seton Hall 3
The Pirates got ahead early but were unable to secure the sweep on the day.

How it Happened

The Pirates got on the scoreboard first with a Beaver RBI single in the first.
In the second a Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) double and a Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) single put the Pirates ahead 3-0.
FAU would go on to score five runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to take the game, 9-3
