CONWAY, S.C. – The Seton Hall softball team picked up a thrilling victory over Iona in their final game of the Chanticleer Showdown, 4-3.

Two homers from Jaden Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.) and a solo shot from Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) helped lead the Pirates to the victory.

How it Happened

The Pirates broke open the scoring with a Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.) single in the bottom of the first.
Iona responded by scoring a run in each of the second, third and fourth innings to build their lead to 3-1.
Tate answered the call in the fourth with a solo shot to cut the Gael lead to one.
In the fifth, Allender drove the ball over the fence in right field to tie things up at four.
After homering in her previous at-bat, Tate duplicated the result with the game-winning home run in the home half of the sixth inning.

Notes and Numbers

Tate's two home runs were her first two of the season and her first ever multi-homer game.
Allender solo shot in the fifth was her team-leading fourth home run of the season.
Shelby Smith (Friendswood, Texas) earned the win for the Pirates pitching three innings of scoreless relief.
The Pirates' three home runs were the most in a game since they hit four last season at Creighton on May 5.
