CONWAY, S.C. – The Seton Hall softball team fell to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 6-4 on Friday afternoon at St. John stadium.

The Pirates come out on the wrong end of a back-and-forth affair in their first of two against the host Chants in the Ripley's Chanticleer Showdown.

How it Happened

The Chanticleers took the lead early with four runs through the first three innings.
The Pirates responded by putting up a three-spot in the fifth on a two-run homer from Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) and an RBI single from Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.).
Coastal doubled it's lead with two more runs in the sixth to make things 6-3 heading to the seventh.
Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) scored on a double steal to cut the Chant lead to two.

Notes and Numbers

Barracato's home run was her first of the season and ninth of her career.
With her RBI in the fifth, Beaver increased her season total to five runs driven in.
The Pirates and Chanticleers had seven hits apiece.
The Hall had their third clean game of season, committing no errors in the field.
With Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) and Jaden Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.) both doubling, the Pirates have had a two-bagger in 9-of-10 contests this season and in eight straight games.

What's Next
The Pirates will continue play at the Chanticleer Showdown with two more games tomorrow, Feb. 22. The first will be another matchup against the host, Coastal Carolina, with the second coming against UMBC. Game times are set for 11:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., respectively.
