Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.), Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) and Katherine Matthys (Spring Branch, Texas) all had three hits on the day for the Pirates, while Allender and Pandolfo each scored a pair of runs. The Hall got a tremendous 6.0 inning relief effort from Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) in the win, as the junior did not allow an earned run to pick up her fifth win of the season.
How it Happened
- The Stags opened the scoring in the bottom of the second, loading the bases before pushing three runs across with a pair of RBI groundouts and a run-scoring infield single
- Down 4-0 in the top of the fourth, The Hall got back within a run by way of two-out RBI hits from Emily Supercynski (Aurora, Colo.) and Arteaga to cut the lead to 4-3
- Jaden Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.) evened the score at four with an RBI single in the top of the fifth
- Back-to-back hit batsmen and a two-out single loaded the bases for The Hall in the sixth, but Fairfield was able to induce a groundout to keep the contest tied
- Camp continued her stellar relief outing with a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh to send the game to extra innings
- The Pirates took their first lead with Pandolfo's RBI double in the top of the eighth
- The Hall would go on to add four more in extras, with a Matthys (Spring Branch, Texas) RBI single along with two run-scoring wild pitches and an error to push the score to its 9-4 final
- The Hall is now 8-3 all-time against Fairfield
- The Pirates out-hit the Stags 16-7 and did not commit an error versus two miscues for FFD
- Prior to Pandolfo's go-ahead double, The Hall's first 13 hits were all singles
- Arteaga notched her 11th multi-hit game and sixth multi-RBI effort of the 2019 campaign
- Matthys has recorded four multi-hit games since March 10
- Camp finished her relief outing with 6.0 innings of scoreless ball, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out five
- The 16 hits for the Pirates mark a new season-high
The Pirates will jump back into conference play this weekend, heading to Chicago for a three-game set at DePaul. The series will commence with a single game on Saturday before a doubleheader Sunday to close the set.
