Pirates Drop Two at Butler On Saturday

WESTFIELD, Ind. – The Seton Hall softball team (14-21, 0-5 BIG EAST) dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Butler (11-16, 2-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday afternoon. The contests were played at the Grand Park in Westfield, with the series finale on Sunday set to return to the Butler Softball Field.

The Pirates will close their three-game set with Butler on Sunday at 11 a.m.

- The Pirates quickly took a 4-0 lead in a wild first inning, a frame that saw the Bulldogs battle back and level the score at 4-4
- The two sides combined for three more runs in the second with Butler coming out of the inning ahead by a score of 6-5
- After the high-scoring start neither team would score again until the bottom of the fifth, when BU tacked on two insurance runs to push its lead to three and ice the contest
- Butler finished with a 10-6 edge in hits, with both sides recording one error
- Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for The Hall, while Destini Peck (Riverside, Calif.) also knocked in two runs
- With a first inning walk, Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) took sole possession of first in program history with 104 career bases on balls
- Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.) and Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) each stole a base for The Hall and Sara Foster (Laguna Beach, Calif.) scored two runs
- In a stark contrast to game one, neither team would get on the board until the bottom of the fourth inning
- Butler tallied three runs in the bottom of the fourth and added three more to double its lead in the bottom of the fifth
- The Bulldogs finished with an 11-1 edge in hits
- Foster notched The Hall's lone knock, a first inning single
- Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) took the ball for The Hall and tossed a 6.0 inning complete game, her seventh complete game of the season
The Pirates will close their three-game set with Butler on Sunday at 11 a.m.
