SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team (13-19, 0-3 BIG EAST) dropped a 12-4 decision in five innings to DePaul (20-11, 3-0 BIG EAST) in the final contest of a three-game weekend series on a chilly Sunday afternoon at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field. In the setback, Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) drew the 103^rd walk of her career to tie The Hall's time record.

How it Happened

The two sides traded zeroes in the first, before DePaul took a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the top of the second
The Blue Demons followed that up with a crooked inning in the top of the third, bringing home eight runs to swell their lead to 9-0
The Hall rallied and got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, with two runs scoring on an error before an RBI single for Destini Peck (Riverside, Calif.)
DePaul added three more runs in the top of the fifth with a wild pitch and a two-run single
Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) knocked in a run with sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth, but that would be it for The Hall as DePaul's 12-4 lead enacted the run-rule

DePaul finished with a 12-3 edge in hits, with the two sides combining for seven errors
Arteaga went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI
The Hall was 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position versus a 7-for-11 effort from DePaul
Both sides left four runners on base
With a fifth inning single, Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) has hit safely in all three BIG EAST contests and five-straight games overall
Walkden's record-tying base on balls came in the bottom of the fifth
The record for Walkden is her second of the week, setting The Hall's all-time runs scored record (132) on Tuesday
After three setbacks this weekend the Pirates are now 6-26 all-time against DePaul

What's Next
The Pirates return to action to cap a season-long five-game homestand on Tuesday, March 27 when they play host to Fairfield at 4 p.m.
