SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team (13-16) dropped a 6-1 decision to Central Connecticut (6-12) in its home opener on Tuesday at a chilly Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field. Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) had two hits and an RBI for The Hall in the setback and Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) scored her 132nd career run to set a new program record.

How it Happened

Central Connecticut struck first with a run-scoring double in the top of the first
That 1-0 lead was short-lived, as Arteaga delivered a game-tying RBI double to plate Walkden in the bottom of the frame
The contest remained 1-1 until the top of the fourth when CCSU pulled ahead by a run
The Hall had a golden opportunity to either level the contest or pull ahead in the bottom of the sixth when it loaded the bases after hits from Arteaga and Jaden Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.), but CCSU hurler Emily Sargent came up with a huge strikeout to strand three
The Blue Devils tacked on four runs in the top of the seventh, putting the contest out of reach with a two-run home run that pushed the score to 6-1

The Hall drops to 3-5 all-time against Central Connecticut
The Blue Devils finished with a 13-6 edge in hits and did not commit an error versus three for The Hall

The Hall is back at home this weekend to kick off BIG EAST conference action. The Pirates will host DePaul for a three-game set beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 24 at noon.
