Camp Shines, Fischer Slugs In Midweek Win At CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – A big offensive effort from Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.) backed a stellar performance in the circle from Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) as the Seton Hall softball team (20-18-1) cruised to a 6-0 victory at Central Connecticut State (10-21) on Tuesday afternoon. The contest was The Hall's penultimate non-league match-up as it enters a crucial stretch of 9-of-10 in league play to close the regular season.
Fischer finished her day 2-for-2 with a home run, a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored. The senior reached base in all three plate appearances and either drove in or scored the contest's first three runs. Camp was brilliant in a complete game effort, scattering five hits and striking out nine against only one walk for her first career shutout.
Turning Point
Up 3-0 in the top of the sixth, The Hall put the game out of reach with three more runs all coming in with two away. After the first two in the frame were retired, Fischer drew a walk and Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) singled to put a pair of runners on. Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) followed with a double to bring home Fischer before a batter later Alyssa Prukop (Coto de Caza, Calif.) notched a two-bagger of her own that scored Arteaga and Pandolfo to swell the lead to 6-0.
The Blue Devils tried to answer and had their best threat in the bottom of the frame, leading off the inning with back-to-back hits to put runners on the corners. Camp responded emphatically, striking out the side to strand both runners and keep the shutout intact.
Inside The Numbers
- The Hall held a 10-5 edge in hits and neither side committed an error

- The feat was last accomplished by Danielle DeStaso (12), Sara Haefeli (13) and Walkden (20) in 2015
- Fischer's triple was the first of her career and first by a Pirate since on March 18 vs. Saint Peter's
- Suto recorded her third three-hit game of 2017 and tied the team-high with her 13th stolen base
- Camp recorded her fourth career complete game and first full shutout, second partial shutout
