PREVIEWING ARMY
- So far this season, Army is 17-20 with wins over Tulsa, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Harvard and FDU.
- Offensively, the Black Knights are led by a quartet of hitters batting over .300 this season. Ashton White leads all players with a .364 batting average and 26 RBI. She is tied with Taylor Brown for the team lead in home runs, each with 5, while Brown also leads the team with 29 runs scored. The remaining two players batting over .300, Breanna Coonfare and Caitlyn Newburn, have nearly identical numbers in other offensive categories as well.
- Transitioning to the pitching staff, Army's rotation boasts three robust options in the circle. Amanda Eaglin leads the team across multiple categories, including innings pitched (86.2), starts (16), ERA (2.67), WHIP (1.13) and complete games (9). While the only other starters, Katelyn Flanders (3.25 ERA) and Breanna Izzo (4.04 ERA) trail Eaglin in innings, they sit tied for the team lead in strikeouts with 62 each.
PREVIEWING VILLANOVA
- After a BIG EAST Tournament appearance in 2025, Villanova has taken a step back in 2026. So far this season, the Wildcats are 8-30 overall, 4-11 in BIG EAST play, with series wins over DePaul and Georgetown.
- At the plate, Villanova showcases two star players at the top of their order. Second baseman Maddie Burrows leads the team with both a .337 batting average and 24 runs scored, while also tallying the second-most total bases on the team. However, Miranda Runco punches through opposing pitching with her power streak. The senior designated player is hitting .292 with eight home runs and 28 RBI this season.
- In the circle, Villanova has been very susceptible to the long ball. The Wildcats have allowed a BIG EAST-high 54 home runs, 21 more than the next closest team, and the second-highest batting average with a .343 mark. When combined, those two factors leave the team with a 6.92 ERA, a conference-worst mark.
- The Pirates entered the season on the precipice of 1000 wins in program history. As of now, Seton Hall has 996 all-time wins, dating back to the 1976 season.
- With four BIG EAST series to go, The Hall has a 3-12 record in conference play after playing the top four teams by record at this time. However, with the conference reducing the BIG EAST Championships to four teams, the Pirates will need a clean run to the end of the season. Last year, the fourth-place team finished with a conference record of 15-9.
- For the first time since 2013, the Pirates claimed a series win over the UConn Huskies earlier this season.
- Stepping into the leadoff spot this season, Angelina Benitez has been a key cog to the Pirates' offensive game plan. The sophomore is hitting a team-leading .405 with 47 hits at the plate, ranking seventh and third in the conference in their respective categories. Additionally, Benitez leads the team with 25 runs scored and sits second in RBI with a tally of 19 through 33 games.
- At first base, Sophia DeMarco has filled in perfectly since taking over the position from single-season RBI record holder Olivia Gilbert this season. So far this season, DeMarco is hitting .330 with both a team-leading six home runs and 29 RBI, the latter of which ranks ninth in the conference.
- After recording two hits in her first 16 at-bats this season, Andrea Perez has been on fire at the plate. The senior shortstop has hit .350 with 17 RBI since that point. In BIG EAST play, she holds the second-best batting average on the team with a mark of .348 through 12 games.
- After struggling to start the season, junior Karissa Dupuis has been the Pirates' best pitcher on the team this season. Across her 21 appearances and team-leading 13 starts, Dupuis has a 5.60 ERA and four complete games with a 5-5 record in 65 innings pitched.
