Four Pirates Post Multi-Hit Games in Setback to Rutgers

South Orange, N.J. – Four different Pirates recorded multi-hit efforts as The Hall dropped its midweek contest with Rutgers, 12-7, to conclude a 12-game homestand. Eight of the nine starters in the lineup for Seton Hall recorded at least one hit, while Ryan Frontera, Shea Grady, Frankie Scrivanic and Nick Tomasetto each notched two hits.

How it Happened
The Pirates were forced to play from behind out of the gates with the Scarlet Knights putting up a five spot in the first. The home side answered with two in the bottom half on a double from Tomasetto and a single from Magnus Kreiger to pull closer, 5-2. However, Rutgers kept the bats hot in the second with five more runs to grow an early lead.

Seton Hall's offense would still execute in run-scoring situations throughout the night, including posting a pair of runs in the fourth. Gabe Cavazzoni would deliver an RBI double in the fourth, scoring Tommy Manzo who had a two-bagger to open the inning. Grady would then knock home Cavazzoni with an RBI single to give The Hall its fourth run of the game.

Three more Pirate runs would come across late, two of which came in the eighth. Aiden Dill got a fortuitous bounce off the leg of the pitcher on a single in the eighth, allowing Manzo to come around from second to score. Later in the inning, Grady would collect his second RBI of the game with another RBI single. In the ninth, the Pirates got two of the first three men aboard which was capped by a Scrivanic RBI single. Rutgers would slam the door shut to end the game with a double play and take home the win.
