WASHINGTON, D.C. – In game two of the series, the Seton Hall softball team's (13-19, 3-11) bats fell quiet as the team lost to the Georgetown Hoyas, 8-0 in six innings, at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex in Washington, D.C.
How It Happened     Â
Similar to the prior afternoon, the Pirates found themselves in trouble after the opening innings. After a leadoff double and an error, Georgetown brought one run home in the first on a double steal to make it a 1-0 Georgetown lead. Then, in the second, just like on Thursday, the Hoyas found a stroke of power. Unfortunately for The Hall, it would be a two-run home run today, instead of a solo, pushing the deficit to 3-0 after two frames.
Against the Hoyas' top-flight pitching staff, the Pirates struggled to put together any offense. Through five innings, The Hall only managed to tally three baserunners: two hits and a walk. That primary issue would only be compounded when, in the fifth inning, the Hoyas notched a three-run home run to put the Pirates in an even larger hole, 6-0. An additional two runs would cross the plate in the sixth inning, leading to an 8-0 loss in six innings.
News & Notes
The Pirates will close their Easter weekend series against the Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday, April 3. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
