South Orange, N.J. – Seton Hall baseball dropped the series finale of its three-game series to Xavier, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Mike Sheppard Sr. Stadium.

How it Happened
Despite allowing a first inning home run, Seton Hall starter Mason Christopher was able to keep the Xavier bats quiet during the bulk of his outing. The sophomore left-hander kept the Musketeers scoreless after the round-tripper in the first, followed by stranding two men on base to escape the second.

After the Musketeers nabbed another run in the third, Christopher worked a shutdown fourth and a 1-2-3 fifth inning to keep the deficit at 2-0. His outing came to a close with one out in the sixth, though the one runner he left aboard would come around to score on an RBI single to give Xavier a 3-0 edge.

The Pirates were able to get one run back in the bottom of the sixth. Shea Grady and Ryan Frontera reached base to start the inning, followed later by a walk to Frankie Scrivanic to load the bases with one out. Ryan Strnad lined a ball to left field, bringing home Grady on the sacrifice fly to make it a 3-1 game. That would be as close as Seton Hall would get, as the Musketeer bullpen would limit the Pirate bats to just one hit over the final three innings of the game.
