Along with his 10 strikeouts, Hansen did not allow a walk in his nine innings pitched. The last nine-inning complete for a Pirate came in 2021 when Tyler Burnham no-hit Georgetown. Five of Seton Hall's 10 hits came from the bottom third of its batting order with Marco Ali and Dylan Pacheco registering multi-hit performances.
Â
Before the game, Seton Hall baseball dedicated its bullpen to Michael Cocco '86, renaming it Cocco's Corner. Cocco, who passed away one year ago, was a former team manager, graduate assistant and assistant coach for the Pirates and he embodied the program's motto, "Never Lose Your Hustle".

How It Happened
Â
Hansen got his day started off strong by striking out the side in order in the top of the first inning. He struck out his fourth consecutive batter to lead off the top of the second inning before surrendering a double to the next batter. After Hansen collected his fifth strikeout for the second out of the inning, Butler took an early 1-0 lead with an RBI single. Hansen got out of that frame without further damage and would retire six of the next seven batters he faced in the third and fourth innings, setting the stage for a big inning for the Seton Hall offense in the bottom of the fourth.
Â
With one out, Nick Ferri singled through the left side and moved to second after Jimmy Brennan drew a walk. Ferri would come around to score on a base hit by Pacheco to left field that tied up the game at 1-1. Marco Ali was the next batter and pulled a single through the left side that loaded the bases for Gabe Cavazzoni. The shortstop delivered with The Hall's fourth base knock of the inning that scored two more runs to give the Pirates a 3-1 lead. After a pitching change, Robbins lifted a double to left center field that cleared the bases and extended the Pirates' lead to 5-1. Â Two more Seton Hall runs would come around on an error and AJ Soldra tallied an RBI on a sacrifice fly that blew the game open to make it 7-1.
Â
The seven-run fourth was all Hansen needed. Despite allowing a run in the top of the fifth inning that made it 7-2, Hansen worked around baserunners in the sixth and seventh innings that kept the Seton Hall lead at five. Hansen finished off his masterpiece in style, retiring the final six batters he faced in order that capped off a career day and a sweep of the Bulldogs.
