SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – In a doubleheader full of chaotic moments, the Seton Hall softball team (21-14, 7-5 BIG EAST) defeated Army (21-14) in both games, 7-1 and 10-5, in a midweek sweep of the Black Knights at Mike Sheppard Sr. Field.

The Pirates continue BIG EAST play on Friday, April 4, with the first game a weekend series in Providence, Rhode Island, against the Providence Friars. First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for 3 p.m.
How It Happened (Game One)
- Both sides stranded a pair of runners in the first inning, but the Black Knights knocked an RBI double to go up 1-0 in the second inning.
- The Pirates got on the board in the fourth inning, however, tying the game on a Taylor Hill RBI double. Then, they immediately took the lead off an Andrea Perez single to go up 2-1.
- In the fourth inning, The Hall increases its lead to 4-1 after a Naya Martinez RBI single and a Olivia Gilbert sac fly.

- The Hall locked a winning position after a messy three-run sixth inning that saw multiple errors lead to a 7-1 Pirates lead.
- In the seventh inning, Kyra Kreuscher closed out her third inning of work to secure the 7-1 victory.
- After reaching base on an error to open the first inning for The Hall, Katey Brennan scored on a Gilbert single to put The Hall in front 1-0.
- Hill kept the offense humming by collecting another double, driving in Martinez and doubling the Pirates lead to 2-0.
- Perez capped off the Pirates' first inning with a two-run single to make it a 4-0 game.

- In the third inning, Perez collected a double, driving in Gilbert to make it a 5-0 lead. A Rachael Schumann RBI groundout, alongside Perez scoring on an error, put The Hall up 7-0.
- The Black Knights pulled two runs back in the top of the fourth inning to make it a 7-2 game.
- The Pirates immediately took those two runs back in the bottom of the fourth inning, however, after Erin Howard collected an two-RBI double to make it a 9-2 game in favor of The Hall.
- Caroline Hobbes drove in the final Pirates' run of the game to close out the fourth inning, making it a 10-2 Seton Hall lead.
- Army added another two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh to make it a 10-5 Seton Hall lead. However, Schumann closed out her 10-5 complete game win with a pair of fly outs.

- The Pirates move to 21-14 on the season.
- Seton Hall is 19-9 all-time against Army, with the first matchup occurring in 1979.
