How It Happened
For the third time this season, Katey Brennan opened the Pirates' day at the plate with a leadoff home run to give the Pirates an early 1-0 lead. That lead would not last long, however, as the Huskies put up six runs in the bottom of the frame to go up 6-1 over Seton Hall. The Pirates' deficit grew further when the UConn added an additional three runs in the third inning, making it a 9-1 Pirates' deficit.

Staring down a potential run-rule, the Pirates fought back with immense fervor. Andrea Perez turned on a 2-0 pitch, launching it over the fence to make it a 9-2 game in the third inning. Hannah Alexander added another solo home run to the tally, pulling The Hall within six and making it a 9-3 game. Three batters later, with two runners on, Olivia Gilbert broke an 0-8 streak by driving a three-run home run to left-center, making it a 9-6 game.

With new life, the Pirates held the Huskies scoreless in the fifth inning and headed to the sixth inning with a chance to tie the game. After an inning-opening fly out. Kyra Kreuscher collected her first career home run to put The Hall within 2, 9-7. The team finally pulled even, however, after Caroline Hobbes drove in two runs on a bases-loaded single to make it a 9-9 game. The tie would not last long, however, as UConn put up eight runs in the bottom of the frame to hand the Pirates a 17-9 loss in six innings.
