How it Happened
- The Pirates struck for three in the second to gain the early edge. The first run would come home after a single by Olivia Gilbert (Johnston, R.I.) got past the left fielder, which allowed Miranda Arruda (Pawcatuck, Conn.) to score from first. Lela Allen (Phoenix, Ariz.) would follow with a double to shallow left field which brought in Gilbert. Next, Andrea Perez (Corona, Calif.) singled to left center to make it a 3-0 Pirates lead.
- DePaul would snag a run in the third against Carr as Anna Wohlers hit one over the wall in center for a solo home run.
