Â
EARLIER THIS YEAR AGAINST CREIGHTON
Graduate student Sidney Cooks had a team-high 20 points, but The Hall fell at Creighton, 75-53, on January 11.
Â
The Pirates never led in this one as Creighton opened the game with a 9-2 spurt and never looked back. The Pirates finished the game without a made three-point field goal, while the Bluejays were 12-for-25 from downtown. It's only the second game The Hall has lost since the day after Thanksgiving.
Â
Cooks finished with a team-best 20 points on 9-for-17 shooting to go with six rebounds. Senior Lauren Park-Lane was the lone other Pirate to reach double-figures in scoring. She finished with 14 to go with seven assists.
Â
SCOUTING CREIGHTON
This year, the Bluejays were picked to finish second in the 11-team BIG EAST according to the Preseason coaches' poll. Both Lauren Jensen and Emma Ronsiek were named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team, while Morgan Maly was an Honorable Mention. Â
This season, Creighton is off to 16-6 start overall and a 10-4 mark in BIG EAST play. They've been playing some of their best basketball of the season lately with wins in four straight games and seven of their last eight. Most recently, the Bluejays defeated St. John's at home, 81-65, on Saturday. Undeterred on the road, Creighton has won its last four games away from D.J. Sokol Arena.
Three Bluejays are currently averaging at least 13.0 points per game with Lauren Jensen and Morgan Maly leading the way at 16.3 per contest. Creighton currently leads the BIG EAST with 9.1 made three-pointers per game.
