LAST GAME
Sophomore Ari Woodard (Oviedo, Fla.) erupted for a career-high 22 points to lift the Seton Hall women's basketball team to a 63-37 victory over Mercyhurst in the 2026-27 season-opener on Tuesday in Walsh Gymnasium.

Seton Hall's stifling defense held Mercyhurst scoreless for nearly six minutes early in the first quarter, forcing six turnovers, including two shot-clock violations to set the tone for the rest of the game. Aside from a surprisingly competitive second quarter, the Pirates largely dominated the contest, using a 12-2 run to open the fourth to put the game away.

Woodard was 8-for-11 from the floor to obliterate her previous career-high of 11 points. Senior Savanna Jones (Eden Prairie, Minn.) matched her career-high with eight points on 4-for-5 shooting.

Newcomer Ksenija Scepanovic (Kolasin, Montenegro), playing in her first collegiate game, had seven points, five rebounds and a team-high seven assists despite a poor shooting night. Senior Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) had only six points, but collected a game-high six steals and drew eight fouls.

Seton Hall All-Time vs. the Sycamores: First Meeting

AGAINST INDIANA STATE
Friday's season-opener will be the first-ever game between Seton Hall and Indiana State.

SCOUTING INDIANA STATE
Indiana State is coming off a 10-22 season in 2025-26, which included a 5-15 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Sycamores defeated eighth-seeded Southern Illinois in the first round of the MVC Tournament, but lost in the quarters to top-seeded Murray State. Tierney Kelsey tied Indiana State's single-game scoring record with 46 points against Murray State, but the Pirates won't see her as she transferred to Memphis in the offseason.

The MVC does not release its entire preseason coaches' poll, only the top six and Indiana State was not among that group. Fifth-year guard Jayci Allen, junior guard Eanae Dagons and junior forward Amerie Flowers were named to the 2026 MVC Players to Watch list.

Indiana State opened the season on the road on Monday and lost to Northern Illinois, 76-71. Saroiya Ajomale had a team-high 17 points. Natalia Williams had 16 points and five rebounds, while Kristen McMillan tallied 13 points and eight rebounds.

Seton Hall will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 12 when it hosts Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. in Walsh Gymnasium. The contest will be streamed live on ESPN+. 89.5 FM WSOU or wsou.net will also carry the game.
