
Pirates Grab Midweek Win Over Hofstra

How it Happened
- Both sides were held off the board despite baserunners in the first, but Hofstra cashed in with a squeeze bunt in the top of the second to take a 1-0 lead
- The Hall leveled the score in the bottom of the third when Arteaga scored on a wild pitch
- After Camp continued to stymie the Pride bats with a scoreless top of the fourth, the Pirates took their first lead of the day with two runs in the bottom of the frame
- Barracato gave the Pirates their first lead with a long RBI double off the left field wall, then Arteaga brought her home with a single up the middle to give SHU a 3-1 lead
- The Pirates tacked on an insurance run when Jaden Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.) scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth
- Camp continued to dominate over her five innings of relief and stranded a runner in scoring position with a game-ending strikeout in the top of the seventh
- The Hall improved to 13-16 all-time against Hofstra and has won two of the last three in the series after a four-game skid from 2013-16
- The Pirates are now 8-2 over their last 10 contests
- Both sides notched five hits in the game, with HU committing two errors versus one for The Hall
- Barracato and Arteaga combined to go 4-for-7 with two RBIs and two runs scored from the top two spots in the Seton Hall lineup
- Arteaga notched her team-best 14th multi-hit game, while Barracato recorded her ninth
- With two doubles Barracato now has 12 this season, tied with Arteaga for most in the BIG EAST
- Barracato extended her hitting streak to 10 games, her second double-digit streak of the year
- Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) drew a walk and has reached base safely in 10-straight games
- In The Hall's last 10 outings, Camp is 5-1 with a 1.73 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 36.1 innings
The Pirates kick off a huge BIG EAST series with first-place St. John's this weekend at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field. The set will begin with a doubleheader at noon on Saturday, April 13.
