SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Behind solid pitching and timely hitting, the Seton Hall softball team (17-16) notched a 4-1 midweek win over Hofstra (16-19) on a chilly Thursday afternoon at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field. Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) tossed five scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win in the circle while Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) and Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) each had two hits and an RBI to lead the way at the dish.

How it Happened

Both sides were held off the board despite baserunners in the first, but Hofstra cashed in with a squeeze bunt in the top of the second to take a 1-0 lead
The Hall leveled the score in the bottom of the third when Arteaga scored on a wild pitch
After Camp continued to stymie the Pride bats with a scoreless top of the fourth, the Pirates took their first lead of the day with two runs in the bottom of the frame
Barracato gave the Pirates their first lead with a long RBI double off the left field wall, then Arteaga brought her home with a single up the middle to give SHU a 3-1 lead
The Pirates tacked on an insurance run when Jaden Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.) scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth
Camp continued to dominate over her five innings of relief and stranded a runner in scoring position with a game-ending strikeout in the top of the seventh

Notes and Numbers

The Hall improved to 13-16 all-time against Hofstra and has won two of the last three in the series after a four-game skid from 2013-16
The Pirates are now 8-2 over their last 10 contests
Both sides notched five hits in the game, with HU committing two errors versus one for The Hall
Barracato and Arteaga combined to go 4-for-7 with two RBIs and two runs scored from the top two spots in the Seton Hall lineup
Arteaga notched her team-best 14^th multi-hit game, while Barracato recorded her ninth
With two doubles Barracato now has 12 this season, tied with Arteaga for most in the BIG EAST
Barracato extended her hitting streak to 10 games, her second double-digit streak of the year
Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) drew a walk and has reached base safely in 10-straight games
In The Hall's last 10 outings, Camp is 5-1 with a 1.73 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 36.1 innings
