
Tate's Walkoff Highlights Doubleheader Sweep Of VU

Jaden Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.) played the hero in game one of the double-dip, cracking a three-run walk-off home run after Villanova rallied for a late lead. In game two, Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) knocked in five runs including a go-ahead grand slam to pace the Pirates to a win.
Game 1 – Seton Hall 7, Villanova 6
How it Happened
- The Pirates jumped ahead quickly, getting a leadoff double from Barracato before a Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) RBI single gave SHU a 1-0 lead
- Neither team produced any offense again until the fourth, when VU took a 2-1 advantage
- The lead was short-lived as Emily Supercynski (Aurora, Colo.) evened the score with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the fourth
- The Hall would go on to re-take the lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, getting clutch two-out RBI singles from Briana Wallace (Fort Worth, Texas) and Barracato
- Villanova answered with a four-spot in the top of the seventh, taking a 6-4 lead
- In the bottom of the seventh, a walk and hit batsman put the potential tying runs on base before Tate smashed a three-run shot deep to left center

Notes and Numbers
- Both squads recorded nine hits, with SHU making the game's lone error
- The Hall hit .357 (5-14) with runners in scoring position and .500 (5-10) with two outs
- Madison Strunk (Adkins, Texas) took a tough luck no decision, battling into the seventh inning and tossing 6.0 innings while allowing four runs on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts
- Barracato went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Tate also had a multi-hit effort
- Six different Pirates notched a hit, six scored a run and five had an RBI
Game 2 – Seton Hall 11, Villanova 9
How it Happened
- Both sides scored early in often, with runs in each of the first six half innings
- VU took a 2-0 lead after the top of the first, but a Destini Peck (Riverside, Calif.) two-run double highlighted a four run bottom of the first for the Pirates to go up 4-2
- The Wildcats re-took the lead with three runs in the top of the second
- Down 6-5 in the bottom of the third, Tate punched an RBI single up the middle to even the score
- Later in the frame, Barracato delivered the key blow with a line drive grand slam to dead center that gave the Pirates a 10-6 lead
- Villanova cut into the advantage with three runs in the top of the fifth, before an Arteaga solo home run in the bottom of the sixth pushed the lead back to two
- Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) came on in the circle for The Hall in the sixth and finally cool the Villanova bats, tossing two scoreless innings to notch the save

Notes and Numbers
- The Hall scored 11 runs despite being out-hit 9-8, while both teams had two errors
- The Hall was 4-for-6 reaching to lead off an inning and hit .364 with runners on base
- Barracato finished 2-3 with two runs scored and five RBIs
- Arteaga also had a pair of hits and scored two runs
- With the two wins on Sunday, The Hall improves to 38-44 all-time against Villanova
- The Pirates claimed their first series win over the Wildcats since a sweep in 2015
The Hall will visit Fairfield on Tuesday afternoon for a midweek tilt.
