
Pirates Head To Hofstra On Tuesday Afternoon

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Seton Hall softball team (17-22) looks to build on a strong weekend series when it heads to Hofstra (24-8) for a midweek matchup on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch from Bill Edwards Stadium is set for 4 p.m.
The Hall is coming off a BIG EAST series victory over the weekend, taking two of three from Providence with a pair of walk-off wins. Hofstra also had a successful run in a conference series over the weekend, sweeping a three-game set with the College of Charleston to improve to 9-0 in CAA play.

Following Tuesday's midweek contest, The Hall will visit rival St. John's for a three-game BIG EAST series in Queens from April 14-15.

- Reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) is second in the BIG EAST with eight home runs and leads The Hall with a 1.029 OPS and 22 runs scored
- Sophomore Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) is coming off a big series against Providence and checks in at .298 with seven doubles, four home runs and a team-best 25 RBIs
- In the circle, Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) was named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll for the second time this season on Monday and leads SHU with a 2.62 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 101.2 innings pitched
- Brianna Wallace (Fort Worth, Texas) is The Hall's top threat on the bases with 12 stolen bags
- The Hall is 12-15 all-time against Hofstra in a series dating back to 1985
- The Pirates snapped a four-game losing skid in the all-time series last year, picking up a dramatic 4-3 victory at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field
- In that win on April 11, 2017, Lauren Fischer and Noel Lent hit solo home runs before Alyssa Prukop (Coto de Caza, Calif.) delivered a pinch-hit, two-run walk-off double in the seventh
- The Pirates will be looking for their first away win in the series since March 20, 2005
- Hofstra holds a 24-8 overall record this year and is 9-0 league play and 7-1 at home
- Brittany Allocca leads the Pride with a .312 average, while Brielle Peitrafesa is batting .307 with team-highs of 10 doubles, eight home runs and 30 RBIs
- Sophie Dandola (10-3, 1.10 ERA) and Sarah Cornell (14-5, 1.61 ERA) form a dynamic 1-2 punch in the circle for Hofstra and have recorded 193 strikeouts over 223.2 innings combined
