Pirates Take Down Saint Peter's In Five Innings
3/18/2017 6:21:00 PM | Softball
The Pirates racked up 11 hits on Saturday, with six different players driving in a run to back the first complete game in the career of freshman hurler Mo Sobel (Newbury Parks, Calif.). The two sides traded runs over the first two frames before The Hall broke the contest open with a massive eight-run fourth inning to put the run-rule in play.
Turning Point
The Pirates responded to single runs from SPU in the first and second innings before taking their first lead of the day in the third with an RBI single from Destini Peck (Riverside, Calif.). Up 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, The Hall broke out for eight runs to stretch the lead to nine.
Peck got the scoring started in the fourth with an RBI base on balls before Noel Lent (Yaphank, N.Y.) knocked in two with a single. Chelsea Caynon (Litchfield, N.H.) delivered the biggest blow later in the frame, crushing a three-run home run off the scoreboard in left. Ragen Reddick (Middlesex, N.J.) put The Hall into double-digits with an RBI double and Joelle Arrante (Elkton, Md.) made it 11-2 with a run-scoring single to cap the offensive outburst.
