Landes Scores in BIG EAST Setback At Marquette
9/29/2016 10:05:00 PM | Women's Soccer
MILWAUKEE, WIS. – The Seton Hall women's soccer team (4-5-1, 0-2-0 BIG EAST) dropped a 2-1 decision at Marquette (5-5-2, 1-1-0) on Thursday night at Valley Fields. Junior captain Katie Landes (Stony Point, N.Y.) scored her first career goal in the second half of the setback.
Marquette jumped out to an early lead with a pair of first-half goals before Landes tallied in the 51st minute to slice the deficit in half. The Hall was unable to generate an equalizer over the final 39 minutes and suffered its second-straight one-goal setback to start BIG EAST play.
Turning Point
Marquette came out of the chutes fast, attempting the only five shots of the first half and scoring twice in the first 26 minutes to build an early lead. Darian Powell broke the ice only 3:16 into the match with a goal at the far post, before Carrie Madden made it 2-0 a touch over 20 minutes later.
