Pirates Host Columbia In Lace Up Game On Sunday

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's soccer team (4-3-0) returns home on Sunday afternoon to close out its non-conference slate with a clash against Columbia (2-4-1). The Pirates have won back-to-back contests heading into the non-league finale, most recently securing a 1-0 victory at Cornell. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. live and FREE on the Pirate Sports Network.
Sunday afternoon's contest will be part of the Go4theGoal Foundation's Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer initiative. The Pirates will be wearing gold laces to raise awareness for the cause. More information can be found HERE.
In The Hall's last outing on Thursday in Ithahca, N.Y. it was senior Cathy Chukuka (Marlboro, N.J.) who provided the offense with her first career goal, a header off a Frankie Maier (Oradell, N.J.) corner kick in the 26th minute. The lone goal would stand as the winner thanks to a six-save shutout from Anna MacLean (Thunder Bay, Ontario), marking SHU's second clean sheet of 2016.
Columbia hosted Saint Joseph's on Friday night in its most recent outing and fell by a score of 2-1. The Pirates and Lions last met on Sept. 15, 2014 in South Orange, a scoreless draw that saw Illissa Blackshear (West Orange, N.J.) record a six-save clean sheet.

Following Sunday's match, the Pirates will begin conference play on Saturday, Sept. 24 with a rivalry contest against St. John's at Owen T. Carroll Field.
